Committee Members Needed
Pack 500 needs some parent volunteers to keep Pack 500 the best and most active Pack on the plateau! As most of you know, a Pack is run under the supervision of the Pack Committee, but without a Pack Committee, the Pack cannot function.
At this time of the year, we ask for parents to step up to fill some committee positions that will be vacated when our current Webelos 2's parents cross over to Boy Scouts. This takes place in February, so we need some parents to fill these positions right away so their knowledge can be transferred. Most positions will only take an hour or so a month of your time and but will greatly affect how well the Pack functions. Click here for a more detailed description, but note that those descriptions go waaaay beyond what we do or even what's required. So please don't let that discourage any interest you might have. Feel free to sit in on a committee meeting to get a hands-on feel on how the committee functions.
- Member & Re-registration Chair - Though we never had this position filled, it would be nice to take this responsibility away from the Cubmaster. This person's primary responsibility is to ensure that new Cubs and leaders membership forms are completed, turned into Council, and that current members memberships are properly renewed. And of course, keeping the pack roster current and up to date.
- Public Relations Chair - This might be the funnest position on the committee as he/she would get to know many of our towns "face" people :-). This mom or dad in this role would be assisting the committee with planning our service projects, promoting the pack in our local newspapers, and circulate recruiting flies twice a year to our local elementary schools...anything that would help promote the and make Pack 500 visible to our community. He or she will get to know the principals of the schools, our Mayor, heads of our city departments, and anyone we as a Pack has interacted with over the years. And if this person like to write, they can even take over the Pack's Newsletter if they should choose to .
- Assistant Cubmaster - The parent in this role will basically shadow our current Cubmaster, Ray Gach, for the next 16 months to learn the "ins and outs" of eventually being the Cubmaster. He and his two sons will be bridging into Troop 422 at the conclusion of the 2013 Blue & Gold Banquet and wants to make the transition of the role go as smoothly as possible. All that's required is to shadow me and see what I do and help out when you can
You'll find all of these roles very rewarding, knowing you're contributing something good to your own son(s) scouting experience and to the rest of the pack.

- January 20th - Cake Auction - Need a parent to arrange an auctioneer to do the cake auction.
- February 5th - Scout Sunday - Need a parent to arrange for the Pack to attend a place of worship to show our support of the Cub Scout Promise "...to do my best, to do my duty, to God and my Country....".
- March 18th - Pinewood Derby - Need some parents to assist with the setup of the track.
- April 28th - Rain Gutter Regatta - Need some parents to assist with the setup of the track.
- May 5th and May 12th - Food Drive - Need a parent to plan the neighborhood maps for donation requests and the delivery of the donations.
- August 11th thru 12th - Kanasket-Palmer Family Camping - Need a parent to organize the event.
- August 24th thru 26th - Backpacking to Sheep Lake - Need a parent to organize the event...or find an alternate hike if there's still too much snow .
- Date TBD - Summer Weekend Day Camp - Mr. Gary Arensdorf needs some additional parents to assist with the planning and running for our day camp.
- Date TBD - Bowling For Beltloops - Need a parent to plan a time and place for the Pack to go bowling.
- Date TBD - Mountains to Sounds Greenway Trust - Need a parent to arrange a service project with them.
Remember, this are all very small investments compared to the dividends you and your sons will receive...and of course, the more you invest, the more you'll all receive in return. So think about volunteeering!! :-)

November Pack Meeting |
 |
| Friday, November 18th, 7pm at the VFW |
| This month Pack meeting will include the presentation of the highest award in Cub Scouting, The Arrow of Light award. There will be songs and skits by some Den's and maybe some magic from our Cubmaster and resident magician, |
Christmas Parade and Trailer Decorating |
| Saturday, December 3rd, 6pm somewhere near Cole Street |
| The parade is on the 3rd, but we'll need to plan two sessions prior to the parade date to decorate our trailer. The Pack has lots of lights and decorations and we can use all the help we can to make this the best decorated trailer the Pack has ever done. So mark your calendars for the parade and for the decorating parties (dates to come as soon as they're decided). We need a parent to organize the date and times of the trailer decorating party and the use of a trailer. The Cubmaster has some info to assist. |
Pack Swimming |
| Saturday, December 17th, 1pm to 3pm at the Enumclaw Pool |
| We get the entire pool for two whole hours!! The first hour will be spent getting our Cubs their Beltloops, Pins, and Badges, while the 2nd hour will be a free-for-all!! The entire family is welcome at that time to join in the fun. So bring your mom's, dad's, your sisters and brothers for a fun and wet time at the pool. We need a parent to arrange the event and to coordinate the Cubs certification requirements. See the Cubmaster if you can help. |
